Derek Scott’s unique brand of physical comedy has been performed in over 40 countries, to millions of people of every different language, of every different culture, of every different ethnicity, all around the world, bringing them all together with laughter!
Venues Derek has performed at include The Helen Hayes Theatre and Neil Simon Theatre On-Broadway, Her Majesty's Theatre on The London’s West End, Rio Theatre in Las Vegas, The Wintergreen in Berlin, Wuqiao International Festival in China, Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, Mayakovsky Theatre in Moscow, L’Olympia in Paris, and even the Pyongyang Spring Festival in North Korea!!
During his career, Derek has also performed with Cirque du Soleil in Monte Carlo, Frankfurt and Los Angeles, The Just For Laughs Festival (4 years in both French and English Galas), Pomp, Duck and Circumstances and The Stratford Shakespearean Festival (Tyrone Guthrie Award) to mention a few.
His biggest thrill was playing the lead role of Yellow in Slava’s Snow Show (Tony Nomination, Drama Desk Award).
Derek has performed and/or created speigeltent (mirror tent) shows including with Pomp, Duck and Circumstances, to Palazzo throughout Germany, to creating a show in Holland for the Boulevard of Broken Dreams, entitled, Otto & Mezzo (a tribute to Fellini), to creating a magic show in Dubai, being the first writer and director for Zinzanni in Seattle, and being part of a creation for the Brisbane Festival entitled Dream Menagerie.
Derek has worked on Television shows throughout the globe including The Comedy Channel, HBO Comedy Special in the US and has appeared for 4 years at the Festival Just for Laughs, in Montreal, Canada. He has appeared at the Koln Comedy Festival's RTL TV Gala and has hosted the Halifax Comedy Gala for many years.
His other television experience includes, writing, directing or appearing on The Comedy Network (Canada), FR3 (France), TVNZ (New Zealand), Channel 7 (Australia), Showtime (USA), SDR (Germany), CBC (Canada), TV3 (Spain) and others.
Derek is the founding Artistic Director of The Brisbane International Comedy Bonanza in Australia, and has worked as a producer with Just For Laugh/Juste Pour Rire Festival.
As a film actor, Derek has appeared in many feature films including the title role of “Gooby”, in the film, A Ted Called Gooby with Eugene Levy.
Derek's career to date was documented and aired in a 1 hour TV Special (Ta-Dah!), based on his 20 years of work in physically based theatre. Another 1 hour TV documentary (Telemebanana) has been made on his creation of a comedy festival in Australia, called, The Brisbane International Comedy Bonanza.
Derek continues to work in theatre, films, TV, festivals, circuses, variety shows, and corporate events, throughout the world. Derek’s physical comedy is understood by everyone of every language, and he's able to perform in English, German, French, Spanish and even some Chinese.
